One of the starting points for customers evaluating new solutions is to assess the relative costs of various options. When we went out on the web and tried to find a non-biased TCO Calculator it was almost impossible. Most vendors offering a calculator try to bias you towards their solution, and spend their time evangelizing their solutions instead of helping you to understand TCO.

We felt we needed to build our own TCO calculator. You can get it here at no charge. The BizValue TCO Calculator allows you to enter every cost associated with various solution options and determine your five year TCO. It is not biased towards cloud computing, although in many customer-facing scenarios, cloud options usually score best. The BizValue TCO Calculator is a critical first evaluation step, but of course, the business case must also include a value calculation to justify the investment. At this point we don't provide a total value calculator, but we certainly undertake Value assessments in our BizValue consulting practice.
